Language and Society

The 2023 Annual Conference of the Linguistic Society of New Zealand will be hosted by the University of Auckland.

 

There will be a Māori language research symposium on 28 November 2023, followed by the Language and Society conference on 29 to 30 November 2023, both at the Grafton Campus of the University of Auckland. The Language and Society conference will be hybrid with in-person and online options.

 

Please click here to submit an abstract. Please note that the deadline has been extended for 2 weeks and is now Sunday 17th September 2023. 

 

Presentations: 20-minute presentation, followed by five minutes for questions.

Submission of abstracts: up to 256 words. Please submit a separate form for each abstract if you are planning to submit multiple abstracts (e.g., one for the Māori language research symposium, one for Language and Society 2023).

Membership:  You must be a member of New Zealand Linguistic Society (normal membership or student) to present at the conference. Please ensure that your membership is active.

Scholarships: NZLS will be covering up to 5 travel scholarships for students flying to Auckland to present their work. Students can indicate on the abstract submission form if they wish to be considered.
